OAJEA is a diamond (platinum) open access journal. We charge no article processing charges (APCs), no submission fees, no page or colour charges, and no fees of any kind to authors. Publication is free for authors and free for readers.
In short
Authors pay nothing to submit, nothing to be reviewed, and nothing to be published. Readers pay nothing to read, download or reuse.
What this means for authors#
There is no charge at any stage of the editorial process — submission, peer review, copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration or publication. You will never be asked for payment, and you will never receive an invoice from OAJEA.
Beware of fee requests
Any message asking you to pay a fee in this journal's name is fraudulent. Please ignore it and report it to the editorial office.
How the journal is funded#
OAJEA's running costs — editorial management, hosting, DOI registration and long-term preservation — are met by its publisher and supporting institutions rather than by author charges. This keeps publishing open to researchers regardless of the funding available to them.
Licensing and reuse#
Every article is published immediately under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licence. Authors retain copyright; anyone may read, download, copy, distribute and build upon the work, provided the original authors and source are credited.
Waivers#
Because there are no charges of any kind, no waiver or discount scheme is required — every author is treated the same. There are likewise no charges for colour figures, supplementary files, or corrections and retractions.
